NaOH

Lye

About the product

Sodium hydroxide dissolved in water is known as lye. The solution is a strong inorganic base and can be corrosive to metals. 50% lye crystallizes at +12°C, and 30% lye (also known as winter lye) crystallizes at around +1°C. Due to the varying crystallization temperatures, selecting the appropriate concentration can be challenging.

Examples of potential applications:

Lye is used for pH adjustment, as a cleaning agent, in chemical mass production in wood processing, in inorganic/organic chemical production, in scrubbers, and in the metal industry.

Delivery

Lye is available in concentrations up to 50% in containers, drums, IBCs, or in bulk on tankers.

Synonyms

Sodium hydroxide, Lye, Caustic soda, Sodium hydroxide, NaOH, Winter lye (approx. 30%).
